“Is How” Series – Palo Alto Networks
Design / Animation / 2D / 3D
One of our favorite partners to collaborate with [cause+effect] approched us with another exciting new project from Amazon Web Services (AWS). They were asked to develop a series of animated spots that tell the collaboration story between AWS and select partners. This particular spot was for Palo Alto Networks on AWS. Palo Alto Networks, a global cybersecurity leader on AWS, enables secure digital transformation — even as the pace of change is accelerating.

It All Starts with the Story
All of our projects begin with a storyboard. We were provided a script from [cause+effect], and from there, we sketched out our concepts and ideas onto paper. With this video, we discovered that something as simple as a circle or a ball of light can create beautiful landscapes, transitions and environments all while telling a unique story.
Bringing Depth and Dimension to a Brand
Once we had our storyboards approved, we were good to move forward to design. We wanted to bring the viewer into the brand's world, so that meant bringing in some 3D elements into a very 2D brand. Especially with the use of light, we were able to create a look and feel for the brand that felt elevated and dimensional, but still kept the core brand elements of Palo Alto Networks.
The Throughline
One thing we love doing in our videos is creating a hero for the piece. In this project, we follow one specific "character" throughout – this ball of light that illuminates, transforms, and transports the viewer to wherever we want them to be. Having this throughline was essential to be able to tell Palo Alto's smooth and cohesive story.
